The Buy Alabama’s Best Campaign is a partnership between the Alabama Grocers Association, the Alabama Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries and the Alabama Food Manufacturers and Producers Association. This campaign runs throughout March and September each year and is designed to inform and educate consumers on what products are made, manufactured and/or produced in the state of Alabama. During these tough economic times it is vitally important to support our local economy. Alabama food product sales have a $2 billion impact in the Alabama’s economy, tax base and along with grocery and food service industries, employ one out of every four Alabamians. A portion of the sale of participating Alabama products during the months of March and September will go to Children’s of Alabama to help find a cure for Childhood cancer. To dates our efforts have raised over $435,000!

Retailers all over the state will be supporting this campaign in their stores with Alabama product displays, ads, signage, special promotions and will sell Children’s of Alabama icons to support our fight to find a cure for pediatric cancer. When you shop in your local grocery store, please look for the Buy Alabama’s Best logo under products to ensure you are buying the best products made here in Alabama.

We hole 3 major events each year to help education consumers about this campaign. There is a Retailer Luncheon in January where we talk to retailers and wholesalers about the changes for the upcoming year, we award the check to Children’s from the previous years donations and discuss how we can make the coming year more successful. We also hold 2 Press Conferences during the year. The first one is in February in Montgomery. We invite legislators, government officials and media to join us to kick off the month of March. Our second press conference is in August at the Children’s of Alabama hospital downtown Birmingham. At this event we kick-off the month of September and hear from key industry leaders. At all three events we have either an Alabama Buffet or an Alabama Sampling event for those in attendance.
